The estimated annual living expenses in Liège are between € 8,000 and € 13,000, including tuition fees (see p 30). Priority is given to students who are registering at the University for the first time and are in the first year of the Bachelor’s programme. Rent is calculated based on the taxable income of parents and the student’s family’s expenses (from € 234 to € 347, per month, including facilities – 2021-2022 prices). Through a private landlord In Belgium, individual student rooms are known as “kots”. There are over 7,000 in the city as well as around the Sart Tilman campus. Prices are reasonable and there is a wide variety of options. Other types of accommodation such as studio apartments, flats or small houses can also be rented at affordable prices. The University of Liège’s Accommodation Service maintains a database of private rentals in Liège. This database can be consulted online. The service can also advise and assist future tenants in their search. www.uliege.be/accomodation In Arlon There are several options for accommodation in Arlon, on the Environment Campus and across the surrounding region - such as shared houses in the town. In Gembloux The University buildings as well asmost of the accommodation are very close together, making it easy to get around without a vehicle. There are two types of accommodation: at the University or in town with a private landlord. 36
