European Baccalaureate
It is important not to confuse a diploma (baccalaureate) issued by an institution located within the European Union and a "European Baccalaureate".
The European Baccalaureate diploma is awarded on behalf of the High Council of European Schools, at the end of the 7th year of the secondary teaching of the European school. It represents the secondary studies completed at the European school.
There are currently 13 European Schools:
- Alicante (E)
- Bergen (NL)
- Brussels 1, 2, 3, 4 (B)
- Culham (GB)
- Frankfurt (D)
- Karlsruhe (D)
- Luxembourg 1, 2 (L)
- Mol (B)
- Munich (D)
- Varese (I)
Holders of a European Baccalaureate do not need to apply for an equivalence.
Depending on the number of courses taught in French in the programme followed, holders of a European Baccalaureate do or do not need to take the French proficiency examination.
For more information on the European Baccalaureate, you can consult the European Schools website.
