Meeting with a social worker
Students facing personal, family or socio-economic difficulties can meet with a social worker at.
With the benefit of specialized advice, they will be guided in their search for solutions, and directed to the appropriate services to answer more specific questions.
Non-repayable financial assistance
At the end of this appointment, a form will be given to the student to enable him/her to apply for financial aid, in addition to other existing aid.
Supported by supporting documents, this application will enable the Social Service to analyze the student's socio-economic situation in detail.
If justified, an amount may be released to help cover certain expenses essential to student life.
Housing assistance
This assistance can be granted once per term. It is renewable after submission of the scholarship decision (for students with scholarships) and the results of the January or early February session, provided that studies are being pursued successfully.
Transportation assistance
This aid can be granted in addition to flat-rate aid for TEC season tickets. 75% of the cost of the train pass is covered.
Fuel assistance may also be considered if the student has to take part in an internship requiring the indispensable use of a vehicle, when no other means of transport is possible.
Help with purchasing equipment
This aid can be granted to students whose socio-economic situation justifies it, for the purchase of equipment or computer hardware essential to their studies.
Erasmus IN/OUT grant
Erasmus students whose socio-economic situation justifies it may benefit from a supplement to their international mobility grant (Belgian or from their country of origin). Incoming students (IN) must first contact their home university to apply for assistance.
Exam session help
This assistance may be granted to students who are regularly employed and who are unable to work during the months of December, January, may, june and whose socio-economic situation justifies maintaining the student job. This assistanceis monthly and renewable depending on the situation.
Help with medical bills
The Social Service can help students who are faced with unusual medical expenses that weigh heavily on their budget. This includes expenses not covered by health insurance. Students must be in good standing with their mutual insurance company, except in exceptional circumstances.
Thistte assistanceis intended for financeable 1st and 2nd cycle students. Ideally, applicationshe deadline for applications is October 31, 2025 (in the student's interest). However, any any request can be made throughout the year.
Confidentiality is guaranteed to any student wishing to express a difficult social and/or economic situation.
