Refusal to register

Your application for enrolment/admission (including late one) has been refused because you do not meet the legal conditions for access or the additional conditions for admission set by the jury ?

If you consider that this refusal is irregular, you can lodge an appeal with the Government Commissioner at the University of Liège.

This appeal must be lodged within 15 working days of the 1^st working day following notification of the decision to the :

You are in a situation of non-financeability¹ and cannot re-enroll without authorisation² 

The procedure will take place in several stages, which may vary depending on whether or not you were enrolled at ULiège the academic year preceding your application for enrolment/re-enrolment.

You were enrolled at ULiège the previous academic year:

1. Your situation does not allow you to re-enroll automatically, you must request the opinion of your jury via your myULiège portal (click on "request a derogation"). The jury's opinion will be sent to you by e-mail within 3 days.
2. If the jury rejects your application for re-registration ("refusal to register"), you can lodge an internal appeal with the Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Life within 8 working days of notification of refusal to register. The decision will be sent to you by e-mail within a maximum of 30 days. As a reminder, the application deadline is now 30 September. This does not mean that the student must be enrolled by 30 September, but rather that the student must have submitted his or her application for enrolment/re-enrolment by 30 September. In other words, a student who receives a favorable decision on his or her internal appeal after 30 September can still be registered on that date.

You were not enrolled at ULiège the previous academic year :

1. If your situation does not allow you to register automatically, you must request the opinion of the jury of the study cycle concerned via the online registration form.
2. If the jury rejects your application ("refusal to register"), you can lodge an internal appeal with the Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Life.

Your application for enrolment/admission has been refused because, in the 3 academic years preceding the academic year under consideration, you have been the subject of an exclusion order, either for

• fraudulent registration or assessment
• serious misconduct
• misrepresentation or falsification in the preparation of a registration file for an admission test or examination, the organization of which is entrusted to ARES.

If you consider this decision to be irregular, you can lodge an appeal with the Vice-Rector for Education and Student Life.

The appeal must be lodged within 8 working days of notification of refusal, using the the appropriate form, to be sent either by e-mail to recours@uliege.be, or against receipt, or by registered post, to the following address:

Any false declaration or falsification in an application for admission or enrolment at the University constitutes registration fraud and will automatically lead to refusal of enrolment for a period of three academic years in any higher education establishment in the French-speaking Community.

Where fraud is suspected, the Registration and Admissions Office will notify the person concerned by e-mail, specifying the facts for which the University is taking action.

The person concerned may contest the alleged facts by lodging an appeal, within fifteen days of the notification, with the Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Life, either at recours@uliege.be, or against receipt, or by registered mail, at the following address: Frédéric Schoenaers

At the end of the procedure, the Vice-Rector will decide whether or not to confirm the fraud and, if so, to refuse your registration.

Confirmation of fraud entails refusal of enrolment for three academic years in any higher education establishment. The student is therefore considered excluded for this period. The three-year period begins on the first day of the academic year in which the fraud is sanctioned.

You are a 1^st year undergraduate student and, before February 15 of the current academic year, you have requested a reorientation. This reorientation is only possible with the agreement of the jury of the course you wish to enter. The jury of the new program has given an unfavorable opinion on your reorientation.

If you feel that this refusal is unjustified, you can lodge an appeal with the Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Life.

This appeal must be submitted either by registered post or against receipt to Student Affairs (Place du 20-Août, 7 B-4000 Liège), or by e-mail to recours@uliege.be, within 8 working days from the 1st day following notification of the refusal decision, using the ad hoc form, from the interested party's university e-mail address or, failing that, from the e-mail address used to submit the registration application.

You are a "non-resident" student and your application for enrolment in one of the restricted courses has been rejected. You can lodge an internal appeal with the Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Life.

This appeal must be submitted either by registered post or against receipt to Student Affairs (Place du 20-Août, 7 B-4000 Liège), or by e-mail to recours@uliege.be, within 8 working days from the 1st day following notification of the refusal decision, using the ad hoc form, from the interested party's university e-mail address or, failing that, from the e-mail address used to submit the registration application.

Applications that do not comply with these procedures or are incomplete will not be considered. No delay will be granted.

In the event of refusal by the Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Life, the student is informed of the procedures for external appeal.
