Glossary

A student who wishes to cancel their enrolment can do so until 30 November of the academic year in progress:

• either by presenting themselves in person at the reception desk of the Registration and Admission Office in order to fill out the cancellation documents and reimbursement request
• namely, by filling out our cancellation request forms and the online reimbursement request.

The registration fees will be reimbursed to the student, excepting the administrative fees.

Beyond 30 November, a cancelled registration is no longer reimbursed and the academic year is recorded in the academic curriculum of the student!

According to the Decree defining the landscape of higher education, the academic year is a period of one year which begins 14 September and ends on 13 September of the following year.

The academic year is divided into three trimesters.

The change in address can be done directly via the ULiège portal or upon request by presenting yourself at the Registration and Admission Office. No modification request made by telephone will be accepted.

In case of address change, you must imperatively informer the Registration and Admission Office in order to receive all important documents which will be sent to you by the University of Liège (re-registration, possible convocation...).

If you are a kot student, don't forget to change the mailing address during the holiday period in order to receive the re-registration forms.

Change your adress via the myULiège portal

To update one of your addresses, for example your mail address, go to your myULiège portal, in the section "My info", "Means of contact and SMS alerts", "My addresses":

Then edit the addresses concerned by clicking on the "Edit" icon:

For your information, if you do not have a mailing address in Belgium, your student card will not be sent to you by post. If you do not wish to have a mailing address in Belgium, you can go to the Registration desk to receive your card.

During their academic career, a student may encounter events which will lead them to take exceptional steps: refusal of registration, issues with payment periods, absences during the January session, refusal of reorientation. In the case of fraud, clear rules are also established.

Non-EU students are subject to more restrictive enrolment conditions than EU students (see the category "EU student"). In addition, they may be required to pay increased registration fees.

However, if they meet the assimilation criteria and can produce the required^* documents, they benefit from the same conditions as EU students (see the category "EU student"):

This is the Certificate of Higher secondary Education (CESS) issued at the end of the school career by a secondary institution recognised by the French Community.

It is your access title to register for the 1^st cycle.

This is the Belgian "aptitude diploma" for access to higher education (Diplôme d'Aptitude à accéder à l'Enseignement Supérieur).
This document is to be presented if the secondary diploma was obtained before 1993 or if you have obtained a secondary school diploma abroad, it will complete any restrictive equivalence.

The system of paid educational leave allows workers to receive paid leave for training programmes followed during or outside working hours. This leave paid by the employer, which can then be reimbursed by FPS Employment, Labour and Social Dialogue.

The Registration and Admission Office is responsible for issuing certificates of attendance for paid educational leave for students enrolled at the AESS.

These forms must be imperatively returned to the Registration Department at the end of each trimester.

Information sessions are planned at the beginning of each academic year.

In practice, you are required to have an attendance sheet signed by your professors and to return it to the Registration and Admission Office at the end of each trimester. On the basis of this attendance, we provide you with a certificate of attendance for your employer.

For students enrolled at ULiège, certain forms can be completed at the Registration and Admission Office:

If you do not qualify for a FWB scholarship, you may be eligible for an intermediate rate between the full rate (€835) and the scholarship rate (€0).

The jury system of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation represents an alternative path for exams, making it possible to obtain a diploma outside of traditional routes of full-time teaching provided in the institution.

These exams are therefore essentially intended for self-learners or those who gave up their studies and have decided to resume them.

Apart from the first registration for the 3^rd cycle (doctorate and research training), the final registration date is set on 31 October¹ by the decree of 7 November 2013 defining the landscape of higher education and the academic organisation of studies.

However, by way of derogation, the Government can, after this date and on the advice of the higher institution concerned, decide to grant authorisation for late registration to a student when the circumstances invoked warrant (art.101 of said decree).

Before 31 October of the current academic year, you can submit a request for a change of studies to the Registration and Admission Office.

During your first registration at ULiège, you receive a "login" and a password. These allow you to log in to the university portal, called "myULiège". You will thus have access to the digital version of your student file.

The activation of your "ULiège" account is thus mandatory, and you will be required to create your "@student.uliege.be" email account beforehand. If you communicate by email with the Registration and Admission Office, this is the address that you must use in order to obtain information on your file or to request documents (i.e. certificate of registration...). No information or query can be transmitted or conducted by telephone.

The myULiège portal is also going to allow you to perform some administrative steps such as:

• address changes
• re-registration
• viewing the state of your studies and of your administrative file

Payment of the registration fees is made either :

• via the myULiège portal (the safest and fastest)
• by bank transfer (see formalities below) by credit card (Bancontact - Maestro - Visa - Mastercard)
• at the reception desk on Registration and Admission Office

Requests for the reduction of fees must be submitted to the Student Social Service before 30 September of the academic year in progress.

To be considered regular, the student must be enrolled for a minimum of 30 credits in a given programme.

They are considered dedicated to their studies on a full-time basis.

The scholarship rate (0€) is applied to students who have obtained, for the same academic year, a scholarship from the Direction des Allocations et Prêts d'Études (DAPE) of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation (FWB).

To receive a study grants from the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, the student must make the request through the e-form made available on the site of the Study Grant Service of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.

It is to be noted that this study grants request is never submitted by ULiège.

But it is essential to inform the Student Social Service of ULiège of the submission of this request.

You have to retake a course and wish to register for the second session. On the portal, choose the option "Register for the second session".

The deadlines for the choice of exams differ from one Faculty to another; check with the apparitor.

The University may grant loans without interest - refundable within the academic year in progress - to allow students to pay the registration fees over several monthly instalments. So that your situation can be analysed, submit your request in due form to the Students Social Service. Thanks to the features below, the SSE can also provide you with other information concerning your pending file.

Granting conditions and additional information from the Student Social Service of ULiège

The student card is issued to you as soon as : 

• a minimum deposit of 50€ has been received
• the postal address given in the file is in Belgium

The student card accompanies students throughout their studies at ULiège! You will not receive a new one when you re-enrol.

If you have lost your student card, you need not fear that you will be denied access to the examinations. In accordance with Article 46 of the Study and Examination Regulations, you can present your identity card or passport instead of your student card.

In case of loss or theft, it is possible to order a new card via our contact platform. Students will be charged € 10 to cover the administrative costs.

A "visitor" student status has been created to allow for access to certain services at ULiège to an invited student (notably for students enrolled as part of an inter-university complementary Masters, in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation). This enables them to have access to the myULiège portal, as well as to courses that are posted there.

This registration is free of charge and can be done by correspondence. In parallel, students enrolled at ULiège must be able to benefit from a similar formula in the other institutions.
