As a public university open to the world and is anchored in the scientific, cultural and economic development of its region, the University of Liège relies on its three pillars: teaching, research and community service.
ULiège trains responsible citizens who are provided with cutting-edge knowledge and critical thinking, are able to share knowledge and can push forward an increasingly complex world.
Global exposure is a top priority at the University of Liège. The institution offers a wide range of international mobility opportunities to students, researchers and staff, enabling them to enhance their cross-disciplinary skills and language knowledge.
Acces conditions to the Bachelor — EU (outside Belgium)
The access conditions for 1st cycle studies are governed by articles 107 to 109 of the Decree of 7 November 2013 defining the landscape of higher education and the academic organisation of studies.
Can enrol in first-cycle university studies in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation:
Any candidate with a secondary school diploma other than the Certificate of Belgian Higher Secondary Education (CESS), the European Baccalaureate issued by the High Council of European Schools or the International Baccalaureate (IB) issued by the International Baccalaureate Office of Geneva, must obtain recognition of equivalence for their secondary school diploma with the CESS.
There are special conditions for certain courses of study:
Access to studies in Civil Engineering/Architecture is conditional upon the successful completion of a special entrance exam organised by each of the four university institutions of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation which offers a programme in School of Engineering. Therefore, you will need to present the certificate of achievement of the special admissions exam for studies in Engineering (only the mathematical section if you have an equivalence, or the entire exam if you do not have an equivalence).
Furthermore, the programmes in Veterinary Medicine, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Medicine, or Dentistry are subject to special conditions. The procedure that applies to them is described on a special page:
Universities in the French Community of Belgium may refuse the registration application of a non-fundable student on the basis of his or her academic record (cf. art. 5 of the decree of 11 April 2014).
This measure applies in particular to students who already have a certain number of registrations in the same course of study (without having obtained a degree).
In addition, students who enrol in a course of study after failing twice in a competitive examination or any test enabling them to undertake or continue higher education in the same course of study are not eligible for funding.
