Registration fees applicable to students of non-EU nationality

I

n application of article 105, §1, paragraph 4, of the Decree of 7 November 2013 defining the landscape of higher education and the academic organisation of studies, the Academy of research and higher education (ARES) has set, by circular, the amounts of fees for students outside the European Union for the 2018-2019, 2019-2020, 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 academic years.

Considering this circular and the autonomy it grants to establishments to decide on the maintenance of certain transitory provisions set out by the previous circulars, the University of Liège applies the following rules:

Students liable for € 4.175

Non-assimilated students from a country outside the European Union

  • whose nationality is included in the list attached,
  • who register for a programme in the first or second cycle
  • and who meet one of the following conditions:
  1. register for a study cycle for the first time;
  2. register, after an interruption, in a study cycle;
  3. register, within one cycle, for a study programme with a view to obtaining an academic degree different to that given at the end of the study programme for which the student previously registered;
  4. re-registration for the same cycle when a minimum of 75% of the credits for the student’s annual programme were not acquired after the previous academic year.

Specific case: students who meet the conditions above but who are registered with a university of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation since 2015-2016 or before pay €2,758 if they are from a developing country.

Non-assimilated students from a country outside the European Union

  • whose nationality is included in the list attached
  • and who meet one of the following conditions:
  1. re-register for the same 1st or 2nd cycle while acquiring at least 75% of the credits for their annual programme after the previous academic year.
  2. Holder of a higher secondary education certificate issued by a full-time secondary education or social promotion establishment of the French community after at least two years of study within an establishment of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation;
  3. Benefiting from a scholarship delivered by Wallonia-Brussels International;
  4. Registered for a 3rd-cycle study programme;
  5. Registered for an AESS study programme;
  6. Registered for a Master’s degree and having only their dissertation to complete for their programme (reduction granted on an individual basis, at the expense of the social subsidies of the Institution)

Special case: students meeting the conditions above but who are registered with a university of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation since 2015-2016 or before are liable for €835 for passage from the Bachelor’s to the Master's (unlike students registered from 2016-2017 who, given the foregoing, pay fees for each 1st registration in a cycle).

Students exempt from registration fees (€0)

Students who meet one of the following conditions:

  1. Benefit from a grant award by the Study Grant Service of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.
  2. Have a scholarship certificate issued by the General Directorate Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid.
  3. Are a member of the personnel of a higher learning institution or researcher hosted by an institution of higher education who registers for 3rd cycle studies or a Specialised Masters.
